Patricia Polacco has such a beautiful way of recording history. Her books share her family history in a way that is engaging and relevant for people of all ages. She has brought her personal experiences of growing up and made them into timeless picture books. And the books that she has written that are not her own family's stories, are historic and accurate and well-worth reading and preserving. Others are just sweet and enjoyable. Her stories are moving and have incredibly important lessons for life, no matter what generation. They teach of compassion, service, love, unity, and the struggles of growing up. She writes descriptively and beautifully but her books can be a bit long for the antsy little one. However, I have spotted a few of her books in simplified board book versions, which would be a great way to share her books with younger listeners.
